Covid-19 tally spikes to 4765 with 78 more fresh cases, 69 sans travel history
IMPHAL: Another Covid-19 patient with co-morbid conditions died at JNIMS taking the death toll in the state from the contagion to 18 while 78 fresh cases were added during the last 24 hour cycle on Tuesday evening.
The latest Covid-19 victim is a 75 year old woman from Keishampat Mutum Leikai in Imphal west district. She was admitted to JNIMS Hospital following complaints of chest pain and fever and subsequently was found positive for the contagion when her sample was tested, sources said.
According to a statement issued by Dr Shasheekumar Mangang, Additional Director Health Department and Spokesperson of Covid Common Control Room, 73 civilians and 5 personnel belonging to Central Armed Police Forces were tested positive for Covid-19 in the state during the last 24 hours, taking the total count of Covid-19 cases to 4765.
Of the 73 civilians tested positive in the last 24 hours, 69 individuals do not have a significant history of travelling outside the state. With this, the state’s total count of locally transmitted cases has surged to 1305.
The fresh cases were reported from VRDL of JNIMS (15 cases), JNIMS rapid Antigen test (1), RIMS TruNat (9), Jiribam RAT (1), Noney RAT (2), Imphal West RAT (36), DH Bishnupur (9), Imphal East RAT (4), and Public Hospital & Research Institute (1).
Of the 73 civilians tested positive in the last 24 hours, Imphal West district contributed 44 positive cases while 16 cases were from Imphal East District, 9 from Bishnupur, two each from Noney and Thoubal districts. The infected patients will be shifted to COVID care facilities and necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, added the statement of CCCR.
Meanwhile, 55 Covid patients were discharged from CAPF (20), CCC Lamboikhongnangkhong (29), Lanva Churachandpur (5) and TK Ukhrul (1) after reports of the RT PCR test on their samples turned out be negative for the virus.
Of the 4765 cumulative number of confirmed Covid-19 positive cases, 3544 belong to general population and 1221 to CAPF. Till date, as many as 2789 Covid-19 patients have recovered and been discharged, thus reducing State’s total count of active COVID-19 cases to 1958. Recovery rate pegs at 58.53 percent by Tuesday.
Of the 1958 active cases, 1012 belong to general population and 946 to security personnel.
