Curfew violators who try to climb the Mt. Koubru detained

KANGPOKPI: Violating ‘Stay Home’ apart from the strictly imposed Curfew, people who went to climb the Mt. Koubru were detained and punished today.

Around 10 people from Charhajare and Kanglatongbi area who are reportedly moving in group towards Mount Koubru for trekking were detained by Leikot Area Youth Association and informed Motbung police and Kuki Inpi Kangpokpi District who later release them with heavy warning and punishment after verifying their identity.

The Kuki Inpi Kangpokpi District state that people everywhere are in due care and prevention while there is strict directive from the Government to all to stay home apart from clamping lockdown and curfew everywhere in the entire country and state owing to the pandemic COVID-19.

It also said that such gesture of trekking in group at this juncture is ‘irresponsible’ and totally violated the lockdown and curfew apart from exposing threat to the local people.

It further said that such activities including trekking in Mount Koubru has been restricted till thing come to normal and any violators will be punish accordingly by the concerned authorities.

It also appealed to the people of Manipur not to think of trekking in the Mount Koubru at this juncture.
