Culprit arrested, Minister Shyamkumar appeals Washima JAC to suspend stir

IMPHAL: Stating that the culprits involved in the heinous murder of Khullakpam Washima (19) of Yairipok have been arrested, Forest and Environment Minister Th Shyamkumar has appealed to the JAC to call off their ongoing agitation.

Briefing reporters, Minister Th Shyamkumar, while strongly decrying the murder of the girl, said that the culprits will be awarded fitting punishment as per law of the land. The main culprit involved in the murder have been arrested and police will be able to arrest other culprits within two three days.

No culprits in the case will be spared, he assured.

Stating that awarding conviction to the culprit(s) is one of the key demands of the JAC and victim family, the minister said that they will get the fitting punishment if they are found guilty after due process of the law.

Regarding demand to provide a government job any member of the victim family, the minister said that he had talked to the Chief Minister who is in New Delhi about the matter. Chief Minister also expressed his desire to discuss about the demand when he comes back to Imphal. As for the present, being a local MLA, he had agreed in principle to provide suitable job to the victim family whenever state government notifies for any job recruitment, he said.

While sharing grief to the bereaved family, he also announced that ex-gratia will be provided to the victim family.
