COVID-19 recovery rate improves further to 55.26%; total confirmed spikes to 1435

IMPHAL: The aggressive effort of the state Government to contain COVID-19 outbreak seems to be bearing fruits gradually with the count of recovered cases exceeding number of active cases, despite suffering a setback of sort in curbing spread of Covid-19 when large-scale infections were detected in some specific locations.

So far, total count of active cases stands at 642 while 793 patients have recovered and have been discharged by Wednesday, recording a recovery rate of 55.26 percent

The total tally of confirmed cases have risen to 1435  with five fresh cases (four males and one female) detected in the last 24 hours when samples were tested at JNIMS lab, according to a press release issued by COVID-19 Common Control Room.

All the five cases were from Senapati district. The Health department, however, did not reveal the travel history of the individuals. All the patients have been shifted to COVID care centres. Health authority is taking up all necessary preventive and control measures like containment and contact tracing, added the statement.


On the positive side, 22 persons were discharged from the hospitals today after they were found COVID-19 free on RT PCR test. 14 patients were discharged from Covid Care centre, Meitram, 2 from CCC Senapati, one each from Kamjong and RIMS, four from JNIMS.

With this, State’s total active COVID-19 cases stands at 642. Till date, altogether 793 patients have been recovered and discharged, recording a recovery rate of 55.26 percent.

Meanwhile, status update shared by IDSP informed that all the 642 active COVID-cases are currently undergoing treatment at RIMS COVID care centre, RIMS, JNIMS, District Hospital Bishnupur, UNACCO School, Meitram, TK Woodland Resort, Tamenglong Higher Secondary School, CCC/IO Ward Churachandpur, CCC, Senapati, District Hospital Ukhrul, District Hospital Thoubal, IGTU Makhan, CCC Kakching, and District QCs respectively.

So far, Covid Care Centre (CCC) at UNACCO Meitram has the highest number of Covid patient with 253 undergoing medical treatment, followed by JNIMS with 103 patients and CCC Senapati. Other patients are undergoing treatment at RIMS (26), District Hospital (DH) Bishnupur (6), TK Woodland Resort Ukhrul (53), DH Ukhrul (9), CCC Tamenglong (44), NEILIT Churachandpur (7), CCC Kakching (15), DH Thoubal (8), MTC Kangpokpi (2), CCC Kasom Khullen (1), CCC Kamjong (2), RD Wing Lamphel (15) and district quarantine centres (20).

In the last 24 hours, 683 samples were tested at RIMS and all turned out to be negative. 375 samples were tested at JNIMS and all turned out to be negative except five.

4861 persons are being quarantined at present which include 34 under home quarantine, 1643 in Government facilities, 2715 in community centres, and 469 in paid centres. So far, 51,745 persons have completed their quarantine period.
