Thoubal: The remaining 13 persons, including 11 family members and close contacts of the second Covid-19 patient in the state, who were put under quarantine at Darul Uloom Madrasa Quarantine Centre in Lilong Turel Ahanbi, Thoubal District, have been discharged after completion of their quarantine period.
Four persons including the infected person’s wife, his youngest daughter, his son and one person who had close contact with him returned negative after another round of Covid-19 test at RIMS on Thursday.
Out of the 21 persons who were on quarantine at Lilongi Darul Uloom Madrasa Quarantine centre, 8 persons have already been discharged from the centre after completing their quarantine days and they all tested negative.
On the other hand, according to report received from District Integrated Disease Surveillance Unit Thoubal gi Surveillance Officer Dr. Kh. Trusty there are 606 person with travel history to outside states and countries who have been put under 28 days quarantine at their respective homes and 299 persons were discharges after completing their quarantine.
Mention may be that around 25000 persons from around 3900 households were conducted Covid-19 survey by more than 100 medical staffs of Thoubal District by going through active surveillance for 5 days after one person identified as Md.Abdul Rahaman from Lilong Turel Ahanbi Khongnangkhong was reported Covid-19 positive on April 1, 2020.
After the report of the Covid-19 positive case, District Administration Thoubal took up strict measures to ensure safety for the public and sealed 3 km radius areas from the residence of the Covid-19 positive person.
Around 25000 persons were screened and they turned out to be Covid-19 negative.
Assistant Secretary Darul Uloom Madrassa, Lilong Haji Meihijuddin told this newspapers that they highly appreciated the contribution and the initiatives taken up by District Administration Thoubal and Medical team after the Covid-19 positive was reported from Lilong.
He said that the efforts of the medical team have found wide appreciation for their contribution and dedication for the safety and welfare of the people despite having various shortcomings.
Haji urged the state government to relax the sealing of a section of Lilong area as there is no new report of any infection in the area even after the expiry of the quarantine period.
