SBI Thoubal staff tests positive, branch closed
IMPHAL: With 111 fresh cases reported in the last 24 hours, the COVID-19 positive cases has risen to 4876 nearing the 5,000-mark even as 96 individuals were discharged during the same time period.
According to a statement issued by Dr Shasheekumar Manganga, Additional Director Health Department and Spokesperson Covid Common Control Room, 111 fresh cases including 55 from general population (31 M, 24 F) and 56 personnel belonging to Central Armed Police Forces were tested positive for Covid-19 in the state during the last 24 hours when samples were tested at VRDL JNIMS (56), Imphal West RAT (13), Bishnupur RAT (1), Churachandpur RAT (10), Ukhrul RAT (10), Babina Diagnostic (21).
Of the 55 from the general public, seven from Pherzawl, Chandel and Churachandpur are returnees from other states while the remaining 48 cases are locally transmitted in the last 24 hours.
Of the civilians tested positive in the last 24 hours, Imphal West district reported 26 positive cases while 18 cases from Imphal East District, one each from Bishnupur, Thoubal, Chandel and Pherzawl, two from Kakching and 5 from Chuarachandpur. The infected patients will be shifted to COVID care facilities and necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, added the statement of CCR.
Meanwhile, 96 Covid patients were discharged from CAPF (66), CCC Lamboikhongnangkhong (15), JNIMS (15) after they were found Covid free on RT PCR test.
Till date, as many as 2545 Covid-19 patients have recovered and been discharged, thus reducing State’s total count of active COVID-19 cases to 1973. Recovery rate pegs at 59.16 percent by Wednesday.
The total active cases include 1037 general population and 936 Security personnel.
The Control Room further stated that MLA Fazur Rahim (50 years), who was found positive on August 10, has tested negative. He was under Home isolation at his quarter at Babupara Imphal.
Meanwhile, the entire office building of SBI Thoubal Branch has been closed down for 48 hours with immediate effect from Wednesday as one employee of the said branch tested positive for COVID-19.
The Deputy Commissioner Thoubal, Nongmaithem Bandana has ordered in the matter on Wednesday itself in view of the impending threat of COVID-19 pandemic in the areas.
The DC has also directed all primary contacts of the tested individu to report to the District Surveillance Officer, Thoubal for necessary contact tracing exercise.
As per the order, the Manager of the bank has also directed to disinfect the entire building as per the protocol before resuming the office.
