IMPHAL: The state’s total tally of COVID-19 positive cases climbed to 970 on Wednesday with 49 more persons testing positive during the last 24 hour circle.
According to a statement issued by Additional Director Health Department and COVID-19 Common Control Room Spokesperson Dr Khoirom Shasheekumar Mangang in late evening, the 49 fresh individuals were tested positive for the contagion when their samples were tested at JNIMS (Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Science), Porompat. 29 cases were found positive at RIMS lab while 20 at JNIMS lab.
Of them, 11 individuals were from Churachandpur, 3 from Imphal west, 2 from Imphal east, one from Jiribam, 5 from Kakching, 2 from Kangpokpi, one from Noney, 5 from Senapati, two from Temenglong, one from Thoubal and 11 from Ukhrul.
They are returnees from different states. All the patients have been shifted to COVID care centres. Health authority is taking up all necessary preventive and control measures like containment and contact tracing, added the statement.
70 patients were tested negative in the second consecutive test and as such they have been discharged from the hospital on Wednesday. 32 patients were discharged from Bishnupur District Hospital, 17 from Covid Care Centre, UNACCO and 10 from JNIMS.
With this, state’s total active COVID-19 cases stands at 642. Till date, altogether 328 patients have been recovered and discharged, recording a recovery rate of 33.81 percent.
Of the 642 active COVID-19 cases, 49 patients are currently undergoing treatment at RIMS COVID care centre while 173, 1, 346, 29and 44 others are being treated at JNIMS, District Hospital Bishnupur, UNACCO School, Meitram, TK Woodland Resort and District QCs respectively.
509 samples were tested at RIMS lab and 29 samples were found positive for the contagion. 2139 samples were tested at JNIMS and 20 samples were found positive.
Altogether 43,477 samples have been tested in the state so far, said a report of IDSP Manipur.
According to the data, Churachandpur tops in number of COVID-19 positive cases with a total count of 114 cases, followed by Tamenglong with 107 and Kangpokpi with 101 cases. Jiribam records the lowest number of COVID-19 positive cases with 3 cases, followed by Tengnoupal with 14 cases and Noney with 23 cases.
