COVID-19 patient flees from CCC; captured and brought back

IMPHAL: In what can be termed as an act of irresponsibility, a Covid-19 patient fled from Covid Care Centre, RD Wing, Lamphel in the wee hour of Friday morning around 2:30.

However, a team of Imphal West Police and Doctors in-charge of Covid Care Centre, RD Wing, Lamphel picked the patient from Patsoi Part-III at around 5:00 AM and was brought back to the centre.

According to The Morning Bell sources, the patient who is identified to be from Thangmeiband tested Covid-19 positive on August 1, 2020 and was staying at the Covid Care Centre, RD Wing, Lamphel since then.

One of the roommates informed workers of the centre as he was found missing from his room around 2:00 AM. Following a search in the surrounding areas where he wasn’t found, the authorities of the Centre informed the concerned Police.

Police and Medical team began searching at the places where he was suspected to be hiding and later found him hiding in a relative’s house in Patsoi Part-III.

The patient was picked up by the medial team in an ambulance and brought back to the centre at RD Wing.

Meanwhile, the patient, who fled from the centre, had undergone therapy due to psychological illness a few years back, the source added.
