COVID-19: Five more deaths take toll to 144 as 250 locals with no travel history test positive

IMPHAL: Another five succumbed to COVID-19 over the last 24 hours taking the death toll due to the noval virus to 144 as another 250 locals with no travel history tested positive for the virus.

According to COVID Control Room, five persons aged 87 yrs (female, Imphal East), 65 yrs (male, Imphal East), 83 yrs (male, Imphal East), 27 yrs (female, Imphal West) and 55 yrs

(female, Imphal East) expired at (two at JNIMS) and (three at RIMS) respectively to take the cumulative number of deaths is 144.

Moreover, in the past twenty-four hours, 255 persons (135M, 120F) from general population and

7 personnel from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) were confirmed as new COVID-I9 positive cases.

As per the Control Room, the positive cases are from JNIMS (23), RIMS (24), Imphal West (61), Imphal East (23), Imphal Hospital (1), Hillside Hospital (1), Kangpokpi (3), Noney (4), Bishnupur (1), Kakching (20), Ukhrul (), Kamjong (8), Senapati (1), Churachandpur (5), Jiribam (2), Escent Diagnostics (2), Thoubal (8), Shija Hospital (12), Raj Medicity (7), CMC (4), Asian Hospital (1), Tamenglong (31), Advance Hospital (1) and Babina Diagnostics (18).

The positive cases from general population are from Imphal West (119), Imphal East

(47), Thoubal (10), Jiribam (2), Kangpokpi (1), Bishnupur (5), Kakching (20), Ukhrul

(1), Kamjong (8), Senapati (1), Churachandpur (9), Tamenglong (31) and Chandel (1).

Five from IW are returnees while the rest are locals without any significant travel history. They are being shifted to the Covid Care facilities and all necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, the Control Room informed.

Meanwhile, 200 individuals were discharged over the last 24 hour. They are from CAPF (4), Home Isolation (2), RIMS (7), JNIMS (7), Tamenglong (2), RD Wing (5), UNACCO (34),

LKK (7), PR Kakching (20), JNV Chandel (13), DH Chandel (1), TK Ukhrul (3), Kangpokpi (28), BAL Bhavan (l6), Lamding (30), Jiribam (2), Thoubal (11) and Bishnupur (8).

The cumulative number of positive cases is 17,424 (General Population – 14,709 and Central Security Personnel – 2,715). The cumulative number of recovered cases is 13,057 (General Population 10,638 and Central Security Personnel 2,419). The number of active cases is 4,223 (General Population – 3,931 and Central Security Personnel -292). The recovery rate is 74.93 %.
