COVID-19 death cases reach 45 as one more expires; 152 fresh cases reported

IMPHAL: A 48-year old woman expired at JNIMS due to COVID-19 taking the total COVID-19 related death case in the state to 45.

The latest victim is a resident of Sangaiyumpham Nungphou in Thoubal district. She was admitted at the hospital on Friday at about 2.35 PM and later succumbed to the virus 10.50 PM on the same day.

Meanwhile, a daily bulletin updated by Dr Shasheekumar Mangang, Additional Director Health Department and Spokesperson Covid Common Control Room reported 152 fresh COVID-19 positive cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total count of COVID-19 cases to 7731.

The 152 positive cases include 123 civilians and 29 personnel of CAPF. Of the 123 civilians tested positive, 109 individuals have no significant travel history.

The positive cases were detected at Viral Research & Diagnostic Laboratory RIMS -23, JNIMS-41, Thoubal-6, Chandel-1, Jiribam-1, Ukhrul-1, Maipakpi Hospital-1, Churachandpur-9, Imphal east-2, Imphal west-28, Raj Medicity-4, Babina Diagnostic-21, Jivan Hospital-1, Bishnupur-2, Shija Hospital-2, Imphal west RAT-7.

They belong to Imphal West district -60, Kakching -2, Chandel -1, Jiribam-1, Ukhrul-1, Noney-2, Thoubal-12, Bishnupur-12, Imphal east-33, Churachandpur-9.

Except 14 persons from Imphal west, Noney, Chandel, Churachandpur and Imphal east belonging to general population, 109 persons are locally transmitted with no significant travel history.

All the infected patients will be shifted to COVID care facilities and necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, added the statement of CCR.

In the last 24 hours, 100 persons were recovered and discharged, thus recovery rate pegging at 78.92 percent.

The 100 Covid-19 patients were discharged from CAPF -31, RIMS-5, JNIMS-3, CCC TK Ukhrul -18, RD Wing-13, CCC Lamboikhongnangkhong -30, after they were found Covid-19 free on RT PCR test.

Altogether, 6102 patients have recovered and the active Covid-19 cases stand at 1584 in the state. The figure includes 1284 civilians and 300 security personnel.
