Covid-19 death case rises to 17

94 civilians sans travel history test positive as tally spikes to 4687

IMPHAL: Total count of COVID-19 related death cases rose to 17 with one more patient succumbing to the contagion at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS).

S. Inaobi, 48-year-old COVID-19 victim from Kiyamgei Muslim Awang Leikai, Imphal East succumbed to the contagion around 8:00 PM on Sunday at RIMS Covid care facility. The patient, admitted at RIMS on August 13, was suffering co-morbid health conditions like chronic kidney disease, anaemia, hypertension, high blood pressure and diabetes, hospital sources said.

Meanwhile, altogether 118 fresh cases including 24 security personnel have tested positive for Covid-19 in the state during the last 24 hours, taking the total count of Covid-19 cases to 4687.

Of the 118, the 94 civilians who tested positive for the virus are without significant history of travelling outside the state.

 With this, state’s total count of locally transmitted cases has surged to 1236

According to a statement issued by Dr Shasheekumar Manganga, Addl Director Health Department and Spokesperson Covid Common Control Room, 118 fresh individuals including 24 personnel belonging to Central Armed Police Force were detected positive for the contagion during the last 24 hours taking the total count of confirmed Covid-19 positive cases has risen to 4687.

All the fresh cases were detected positive for the virus when samples were tested at VRDL of JNIMS (9), Raj Medicity ( 3), DH Noney (2), Chuarachandpur (25), Babina Diagnostic (2), Imphal West RAT (69), Shija Hospital (2), DH Thoubal (5), DH Tamenglong (1).

 Of the 94 civilians tested positive in the last 24 hours, Imphal West district alone reported 72 positive cases while 6 cases from Thoubal, one each from Tamenglong and Churachandpur, 12 from Imphal, East, 2 from Noney. The infected patients will be shifted to COVID care facilities and necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, added the statement of CCR.

Meanwhile, 102 Covid patients were discharged from CAPF (7), RIMS (5), Covid care centre Lamboikhongnagkhong (81), CCC Kasom Khullen (8) and Senapati (1) after they were found Covid free on RT PCR test.

Of the 4687 cumulative number of confirmed Covid-19 positive cases, 3471 belong to General population while 1216 to CAPF.

Till date, as many as 2734 Covid-19 patients have recovered and been discharged, thus reducing State’s total count of active COVID-19 cases to 1936. Recovery rate pegs at 58.33 percent by Friday.

Of the 1936 active cases, 975 belong to general population and 961 to Security personnel.
