Death toll hits double century, positive cases climb by 219 to inch closer to 21K mark
IMPHAL: The state’s COVID-19 death toll has hit the 200 mark with two more persons succumbing to the virus in the span of 24 hours.
The latest COVID-19 victims are a male resident from Thoubal aged 47 years and a 58-year old male from Kakching. The first patient expired at PHC/HWC, Mayang Imphal while the other patient died at JNIMS, Health department said.
Meanwhile, Tuesday’s bulletin of COVID-19 common control room reported 219 new positive cases taking the tally of COVID-19 positive cases to 20,777. The new cases consisted of 215 cases from general population and four from the Central Armed Police Force personnel.
The 215 positive cases from among the civilians are locally transmitted without any significant travel history.
The fresh positive cases were tested at RIMS-21, JNIMS-19, Imphal west-40, Imphal east-4, Maipakpi Hospital-2, Mother’s Care-1, RD Wing-5, Swiss Clinic-1, Hillside Hospital-1, CMC-1, ACME-1, Escent Diagnostics-2, Asian Hospital-1, Imphal Hospital-1, Public Hospital-3, Raj Medicity-3, Christian Hospital-1, Jivan Hospital-1, Advance Hospital-1, Peace Hospital-1, Peace Hospital-1, Thoubal-10, Bishnupur-9, Kakching-4, Tamenglong-15, Tengnoupal-2, Ukhrul-3, Senapati-1, Churachandpur-15, Chandel-3, Kangpokpi-1, Jiribam-2 and Babina Diagnostics-28.
All the infected patients are being shifted to Covid Care facilities and all necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, added the release.
The positive cases from among the civilians are residents from Imphal West district (95), Imphal East (36), Thoubal (15), Bishnupur (13), Ukhrul (3), Tamenglong (16), Tengnoupal (2), Kamjong (1), Kakching (5), Kangpokpi (2), Churachandpur (17), Chandel (4), Jiribam (2) and Senapati (4).
The release further stated that as many as 275 persons were discharged from various COVID care centres and hospitals. They were discharged from CAPF- 26, home isolation-130, RIMS-9, CCC LKK-57, CCC UNACCO-17, RD Wing-1, PR Kakching-12, Bal Bavan-2, Bishnupur-2, Kamjong-1, Moreh-2, Kangpokpi-11, and Tamenglong-5.
Till date, altogether 17,534 persons (general population-14,930, CAPF-2604) have recovered and thus active cases stood at 3,043. Recovery rate pegged at 84.39 percent by Tuesday.
The Health department appealed to the individuals, who were in contact with any positive person, to isolate immediately and contact COVID control room or CMO concerned for testing.
