IMPHAL: The Special Judge, ND&PS, Imphal West on Saturday framed charges against the surrender of alleged accused Lhukhosei Zou former Chairman ADC Chandel for trial in connection with seizure of huge quantity of drug worth Rs. 27 crore on June 19, 2018.
The alleged accused Lhukhosei Zou (51), S/o (L) Thangmang Zou of Moreh Ward No. 2 at present residing at Lamphel VIP quarter No. 1was remanded into judicial custody on Friday soon after he had surrender himself before the same court after absconding since December 19, 2018 in connection with the case.
The alleged accused Lhukhosei Zou along with other seven alleged accused including those who are presently on bail appeared before the court today for the hearing.
The court on perusal of the case record, the material available before the court and after hearing the both parties framed charges against the alleged accused Lhukhosei Zou under section 8(3) 22(c) 25/ 29 and 60 of ND&PS Act.
The court also directed SP NAB Manipur to appear before the court on March 3 in connection with the trial case.
The charge sheet of the case was submitted by the concern IO of the case on December 15, 2018 some four days before the alleged accused Lhukhosei Zou was released on interim bail on health ground and remain traceless/absconding till yesterday.
During the course of time and after announcing the alleged accused proclaimed offender/ absconder by the court March last.
The charges was framed against the seven other alleged co-accused identified as Esther Vungheinuam, Mung Zou alias Aric, Teresa Ngaite alias Nengboi, Thangminlun Zou, Lawrence Zou, Jamkhohao and Minlal Mate on September 6, 2019, as the trial is on already on against them and in the stage of prosecution witness.
