IMPHAL: The flag hoisting ceremony of Salam Joy Singh who is the candidate of Indian National Congress from Wangoi assembly constituency was held at his residence at Samurou on Wednesday.
The flag hoisting ceremony was attended by prominent members of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) that included MPCC President Moirangthem Okendro, CLP leader O. Ibobi, veteran leader Okram Joy, party MLAs and people from across the constituency who have came to show their affection and support to the Congress Party as well as Salam Joy Singh.
O. Joy was his witty self during his speech saying that ‘giving votes to BJP is the same as digging our own graveyards’.
He mocked chief minister N Biren for his statement during a reception function of Joy’s rival and minister Oinam Lukhoi “Give me 34/35 dedicated, sincere MLAs, I will convert the state to ‘Sanaleipak’ in 10 years”, and made an observation that N. Biren is the most incompetent chief minister in the history of Manipur.
O. Joy mentioned the burning issues like the worsening conditions of Covid-19 outbreak, Naga Framework imbroglio, Delimitation controversy, saying that the series of unresolved issues during his three years of being at the helm of the state prove his contention that N. Biren Singh is the “Worst Chief Minister” ever.
He asked the gathering whether they will not feel ashamed giving votes to an immature politician like O. Lukhoi and getting him elected from Wangoi Assembly constituency. Those BJP central leaders who approved of O. Lukhoi by giving him ministerial berth are nothing less than morally deprived persons as Lukhoi, O Joy said.
CLP leader Okram Ibobi commended Salam Joy Singh as the most humble and honest person who has both integrity and leadership quality. Ibobi slammed the BJP government that no visible development is seen in the state despite the false promises, public stunts and propaganda unleashed by the government. The present government is financially unsound and resorts to promotion by simply changing names of those development projects that were begun during the Congress government. Even though BJP has the opportunity to govern the state of Manipur for 150 years, the development and achievements of the15 years governance by Congress party can never be reached, even in their dreams, O. Ibobi said.
MPCC President M. Okendro stated at the gathering that it is amazingly funny that CM Biren considered those persons which the Congress party had disqualified for their unprincipled practices and thrown out from the party as his worthy followers. He appealed to the people of Wangoi constituency not to give votes to the person who lacks self-respect and dignity representing a party like BJP. Their minds are unstable and have imposed a fascist rule in such a huge democratic country.
MLA K. Meghachandra reminded the gathering of cases still pending against O. Lukhoi. He said that if O. Lukhoi by chance got elected in this upcoming By-Election to be held on 7th November, then there will be again another phase of By-Election. He accused O. Lukhoi of letting down the image and dignity of being an MLA according to his various sarcastic yet degrading comments in his speeches that has gone viral in social media.
