Imphal: The Manipur Archery Association held a meeting on Tuesday to condole the sudden demise of B. Chaoba Sharma, a prominent archer of the year Manipur.
He represented Manipur in the National Archery Championships and National Games between
1978 and 1999. B. Chaoba Sharma was the first person in India to manufacture/produce Indian Round Archery Bows and Arrows for Bamboos and woods (similar to the Recurve Bows) just after the Archery Association of India took the decision to start Indian Round Archery Championships in 1993. He imparted archery coaching to the young archers and
produced a number of national and international archers from Manipur. He was the first person to impart archery coaching to L. Bombayla Devi, Olympian.
The meeting also observed two minute silence as a mark of respect to the departed soul and prayed the Almighty God for keeping his soul to rest in peace in the heavenly abode. The members of the Manipur Archery Association and archers also shared the grief and sorrows faced by the bereaved family.
