KANGPOKPI: Considering the alarming likelihood of community transmission in Kangpokpi District, social welfare and cooperation Minister Nemcha Kipgen held an emergency review meeting today Conference Hall, DC office Kangpokpi.
The review meeting chaired by the Minster was attended DM/DC Kangpokpi, Somorjit Salam, IAS, SP Kangpokpi, Hemant Pandey, IPS, Chief Medical Officer Kangpokpi, Dr. Nilakanta Singh, Addl.SP Kangpokpi, Lalminlen Misao, MPS, all SDOs, SDCs, AC to DC, officials from various other departments including PHED, MSPDCL, CAF&PD, etc.
Stressing the need to embark on stringent measures with the alarming likelihood of community transmission in the district, the Social Welfare and Cooperation Minister directed the District Magistrate/DC Kangpokpi to create intensive awareness to the community leaders to prevent further spread of the disease in the district.
“Situation has come to the extent that only the Government will no longer be able to prevent the spread of the dreaded virus as there is alarming likelihood of local transmission where community itself becomes the only tool to tackle and prevent the spread of the virus”, asserted Minister Nemcha Kipgen.
She also said that we need to aware the community leaders about the alarming situation as well as measures to prevent further spread of the disease through community participation without which it will be too late to contain the local transmission.
After putting heads together and thorough deliberation, it was decided that awareness video and audio in the multilingual shall be made at the earliest and circulated to all the community leaders for disseminating among the public in their respective places.
Minister Nemcha Kipgen also exhorted the people to be a responsible individual in taking care of himself and his family by following the Government standard operating procedures and other preventive measures considering the alarming situation with a commitment to stop the spread of the virus further.
“Be not the one responsible for the transmission of the virus rather a responsible person to stop the spread”, exhorted the Minister before soliciting the participation of the community in containing the spread of the dreaded virus among the community.
She also appealed to all the community leaders to come forward and render utmost cooperation towards the District Administration, Medical Department, District Police and all frontline workers with a sole motive to overcome the deadly pandemic and most importantly the spread of the dreaded virus among the community.
The Minister instructed the PHE Department to ensure proper water supply at the newly inaugurated COVID Care Centre and asked the MSPDCL department to ensure adequate power supply while many other important issues were also discussed during the meeting.
Later, the Minister met the leaders of local women body and youth leaders at the emergency food kiosk for stranded people and motivated them to continue their selfless service despite tremendous challenges while ensuring to meet their requirements in their service towards humanity.
