Community participation in combating COVID-19 continues in Kpi

KANGPOKPI: Community participation in combating the pandemic COVID-19 in Kangpokpi District continued to stand highly tall in various ways till today setting an example and inspiration to many in other parts of the state.

Chawangkining COVID-19 Relief Committee established by Chawangkining Village Authority is one such voluntary organization based on ‘Service to mankind is service to God’ in the district that has been tirelessly involved in community service considering the importance of community participation in the fight against the pandemic.

Chawangkining is a village with diverse community located along Twilang Lampi, commonly known as Imphal-Tamenglong Road, the state oldest highway. It is around 12 Km. from Kangpokpi District Headquarters.

The people of Chawangkining village under the aegis of Chawangkining Village Authority and Chawangkining Village COVID-19 Relief Committee donated huge quantity of fresh wild vegetables today for inmates put under surveillance at various IQCs in the district.

Earlier, Chawangkining COVID-19 Relief Committee had also donated several times not only within the district but also in Senapati and Imphal as well for the returnees and valley brethrens to show their love and responsibility during the health crisis.

One DI Tata fully loaded with fresh wild vegetables which were collected from the jungle by the villagers including men and women, boys and girls under the aegis of the village Authority and the Relief Committee were hand over this morning at TBA Church Kangpokpi, the centralized kitchen for inmates at Kangpokpi in the presence of the local SDO Chunglenmang Kipgen, MCS.

The team was lead by Ch. Wishubui, Chairman, Chawangkining Village Authority, Adam Gonmei, Convenor, Chawangkining Village COVID-19 Relief Committee and Wichamdinbou Charenamei, Co-Convenor of the relief committee including Ch. John and Thd. Benjamin from the village authority board and Thd. Lovejoy and W.Philip the youth president and secretary respectively of the village.

The variety of fresh wild vegetables donated today included laphu, laphu tharo, usingsa, chom maton, asinba mana, yenbum, siing and Yenthem.

Highly appreciating the untiring community service, Thanglensei, one of the church leader of TBA Kangpokpi said that every words seems incomplete in appreciating the good samaritan act of Chawangkining villagers under the aegis of the village authority and the relief committee.

He continued that among many other partaking in community participation during the pandemic health crisis, Chawangkining people have been exceptionally doing a great job not only inspiring many other but also showing them a good lesson towards humanity.

Chawangkining Village Authority Chairman, Ch. Wishubui expressed the team happiness towards the hospitality of the TBA Kangpokpi and for their warm welcome by offering love and prayers for the team and the village while appreciating the local SDO Chunglenmang Kipgen for his concerned towards humanity upon the returnees.

He also maintained that the returnees after enduring various hardships are mandatorily put under surveillance at various IQCs for the safety of themselves and the society, adding that the District Administration is making maximum efforts for their food and shelter and considered the concerned SDO to provide fresh vegetables as their responsibility.
