Imphal: Chief Minister N. Biren Singh inaugurated five Water Supply projects, one office building of Weight and Measures Department and Rapid Antigen Detection Testing Centre at Jiribam through video conferencing from the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, Imphal Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister informed that with a strong commitment, the government could complete various developmental projects in the State. With the co-operation and support of the people, such projects have been inaugurated within a stipulated time period.
The Chief Minister said that the New Development Bank has sanctioned Rs 3,000 crore to provide potable water to every household of the state. All the necessary processes including tenders, issue of work order etc. have been completed and the State government has requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to grace the foundation stone laying ceremony which will be held shortly, he added. He appealed to the CSOs, people and others concerned not to create any hindrances in the developmental activities being taken up in the State.
Mentioning about the situation of COVID-19 in the State, the Chief Minister said that the recovery rate of COVID-19 patients have reached more than 53 percent and there is no casualty so far in the State. He mentioned that people should take all precautionary measures to fight the disease and should abide to all the protocols and SOPs issued by Health Ministry and Government.
With the inauguration of Rapid Antigen Detection Centre in Jiribam, Chief Minister said that it will help in early detection of coronavirus infection and quick diagnosis. He said that the testing facilities will also be made available to other districts of the State very soon. Around 15,000 rapid testing kits have been supplied to the State government till now, he added.
Regarding the opening of Covid Care Centre at Jiribam district, Chief Minister stated that the government has not taken any decision to convert the Jiribam district hospital into Covid Care Centre. However, the government is planning to open a Covid Care Centre in Jiribam district so that the coronavirus infected patients can be treated at the district itself.
Minister for PHE Shri Losii Dikho said that the government is committed to provide potable water to all the household of the State by the year 2022. He mentioned that with the cooperation of the people, the construction of Water supply scheme for Churachandpur was completed eight months before the stipulated time period. He also appreciated the implementing agency viz. SPML Infra. Ltd, Kolkatta for their dedication to complete the work before the stipulated time period. He appealed the people of the State to support and cooperation in developmental activities taken up by the government for the welfare of the people.
Mentioned may be made that the Integrated Water Supply Project for Imphal Planning Area Ph-I (15.89 MLD) at Koirengei was constructed at the project cost of Rs. 8.58 crores. The construction of 15.89 MLD (Million per day) capacity project was started in March 2018 and completed in March 2020.
The Integrated Water Supply Project for Imphal Planning Area Ph-I (0.80 ML) i/c Pumping Station at Sangakpham was constructed at the project cost of Rs. 4.44 crores. The construction of 0.80 ML capacity project was started in March 2018 and completed in March 2019.
The Integrated Water Supply Project for Imphal Planning Area Ph-I (Water Treatment Plant (9.08 MLD) at Canchipur was constructed at the project cost of Rs. 6.10 crores. The construction of 15.89 MLD (Million per day) capacity project was started in March 2018 and completed in March 2020.
The Water Supply Scheme at Heingang Awang Leikai was constructed at the project cost of Rs. 5.88 crores. The construction of 0.384 MLD (Million per day) capacity project was started in August 2018 and completed in March 2020.
The Water Supply distribution network for Churachandpur for promoting tourism under NESIDS was constructed at the project cost of Rs. Rs. 2339.36 Lakhs. The construction of the project was started in February 2019 and completed in June 2020.
The Office Building of Controller of Legal Metrology and R&D Centre, Lamphel was constructed at a project cost of Rs. 2 crores during 2018-19.
