Imphal: Chief Minister N.Biren Singh has handed over another 9 new Toyota Innova vehicles to the recently launched Manipur Police Patrol Unit on Monday, in addition to the 3 Innova vehicles that were handed over earlier, to Imphal East and Imphal West District Police, taking the total number of such vehicles with the unit to 12.
The vehicle handing over event was attended by ministers, MLAs and DGP Manipur L. M. Khaute along with senior police officers.
A press release issued by SP/NAB, PRO, Police Department, W. Basu Singh, stated that Manipur Police Patrol Unit covering Imphal City and parts of Imphal East and West districts was created to provide better security and induce a sense of confidence and safety in the minds of the general public. The press release informed the general public to call up the telephone numbers given on the Police Patrol vehicles or directly approach the patrol teams to report any matter of exigency.
It stated that DGP Manipur along with senior police officers also handed over monetary contributions on behalf of the Police Department towards CM Covid-19 Relief Fund, amounting to Rs. 2,92,44,259, directly to the chief minister during the vehicle handing over event.
The press release further stated that the police department will continue to make sincere and all-out efforts in enforcing the lockdown norms and contribute to the containment of the spread of Covid-19 in the state.
