IMPHAL: Chief Minister N Biren on Sunday flew to the national capital along with the six Congress MLAs who resigned from the membership of Manipur Legislative Assembly.
According to a source, Chief Minister reportedly accompanied six resigned MLAs namely Okram Henary of 15-Wangkhei AC, Oinam Lukhoi of 22-Wangoi AC, Md Abdul Nasir of 30-Lilong, Ngamthang Haokip of 51-Saitu AC and Ginsuanhau of 60-Singhat AC and Paonam Brojen of Wangjing Tentha. Congress MLA RK Imo also accompanied the CM, added the source.
Detail of their Delhi trip is yet to be ascertained. However, it is speculated that the six resigned MLAs are likely to meet BJP National President JP Nadda and other BJP leaders. They are likely to join BJP officially.
The six Congress MLAs tendered resignation to the Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly, whereby helping in tilting the balance in favour of BJP led coalition which has comfortably won the vote of confidence. The 6 MLAs also abstained from the single day monsoon session of the Manipur Legislative Assembly held on August 10.
Chief Minister N Biren is expected to brief the BJP national leadership about how the resigned MLAs helped the BJP Government win the recent trust vote in the house.
