CM appeals to support lockdown till May 3rd Working with CSOs, have appointed IAS officers in all states for stranded Manipuris: CM

Imphal: After the Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that the nationwide lockdown will be extended till 3rd May, 2020, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh appealed to the people of the state to support and abide by the decision of the Central Government to win this war against the dreaded disease COVID-19. This was stated by him in a video message sent out to the media houses today.

The Chief Minister stated that the State government fully endorses the decision of the Union government to extend the nationwide lockdown till 3rd May 2020.Lauding the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in combating the pandemic, Chief Minister said that many countries have appreciated the steps and preventive measures taken up by the Prime Minister in the country. Stating that the State government is closely monitoring the situation, Chief Minister urged the people to extend their support and co-operation to the decisions taken by the government from time to time. He thanked the people for extending their support to the government till now.

Biren Singh appealed to the Manipuris who are stuck outside the State not to get frightened as the State government has already deputed senior IAS officers for each state to address the grievances faced the Manipuris in various parts of the country. He also mentioned that the government is closely working with CSOs, student organisations and individuals to extend their help to our students who are stuck in different states. He stated that around 17,900 students have been registered through www.tengbang.inand an amount of Rs. 2000 each have been credited to the bank accounts of around 2700 students till now.

The Chief Minister also urged the people of the state to give respect to those drivers and handymen who are risking their lives in carrying the essential items into the State.

Reminding the people to follow the seven point rules laid by the Prime Minister in his address to the Nation today, Chief Minister maintained that we must take special care of the elderly in your homes, especially those who have chronic diseases. We need to take extra care of them, and keep them safe from Coronavirus. People must completely adhere to the lockdown and social distancing and also use homemade face-covers and masks without fail. He also appealed to follow the instructions issued by AYUSH Ministry to enhance the immunity. He urged people to download the Arogya Setu Mobile App to help prevent the spread of corona infection. He asked the people to take as much care of poor families as you can and be compassionate towards the people who work with you in your business or industry. Do not deprive them of their livelihood. He maintained that we must pay utmost respect to those who are working at the frontline such as doctors and nurses, sanitation workers and police force etc.
