CJM commits Ratankumar fake encounter case to Session Judge

IMPHAL: The Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West February 11 commits the case of alleged fake encounter/ extra judicial killing of Irengbam Ratankumar on September 1, 2010 at Ningombam to Mongsangei Inter village road near Vale Academy for further necessary proceeding before the court of Session Judge Imphal West

The case was committed for required court proceeding as it is exclusively triable by the Court of Session Judge.

As CJM Imphal West on January 21 took cognizance against the alleged accused cops after the required prosecution sanction was released from the state home department recently after the gap of 8 months of submission of charge sheet by CBI/ SIT Manipur after the investigation of the case.

In compliance of the Supreme Court Order a case was registered by CBI/ SIT New Delhi on 27 February 2018 by taking over Singjamei Police station relating to the death of Irengbam Ratankumar, son of Babu of Phoubakchao Awang Leikai, on September 1, 2010 at Ningombam and Mongsangei Inter village road near Vale Academy.

After the completion of the investigation CBI/SIT Manipur on May last year had submitted the charge sheet against the alleged accused cops including Inspector Nandeibam Jatishwar of Heirangoithong Chingtham Leikai, Head constable James Panmei of Longmai Village Part III, Riflemen Thounaojam Sanatomba of Haoreibi Mayai Leikai and Riflemen Thokchom Ibomcha of Heirok Part II Bamon leikai in connection with the alleged fake encounter/extra judicial killing of Irengbam Ratankumar.
