Thoubal: While observing Children’s Day cum Awareness Campaign on Nasha Mukt Bharat Campaign at the complex of The Child Care and Educational Foundation, Wangjing, the institution was declared as “Drug Free” Institution on Saturday.
The event was organised by Nasha Mukt Bharat Campaign Thoubal District in collaboration with the Child Care and Educational Foundation, Wangjing and Meira Group, Wangjing.
As a part of the Programme, a Painting Competition for children was held under the theme “Drug Free Thoubal District”.
Moirangthem Ritesh of Royal Academy, Wangjing; Ratana Angel Keisham of Child Care and Educational Foundation, Wangjing and Ajoy Khundrakpam of Catholic School, Canchipur got the first, second and third position of the Painting Competition respectively.
Certificates and prizes were distributed to the position holders and consolation prize to 4 winners of the competition.
Speaking on the occasion, Associate Professor, Thoubal College L. Jailshyam mentioned about a clean movement which aims at making the locality (in and around the School Campus) a drug free zone by jointly working with the local meira paibis and also involving the youths.
Member, NMBC, Thoubal Y. Laksman emphasized the need to honour any individual in the function who does not take any form of drug like pan, talab, alcohol and others. The stoppage of using drugs should start from each one of us because the children who are the pillar-stone of the society imitate the taking of drugs from elders/parents/teachers and others. The parents /teachers should become a role model for the children, he added.
Thoubal District Social Welfare Officer Arambam Kameshwar highlighted the harmful effects of consuming Drugs and Alcohol to the health, family and society especially children.
Vice Chairperson, Wangjing Municipal Council N. Binoy thanked the Nasha Mukt Bharat Campaign for the benefit of the students and the parents. The real assets for the parents are the Children. Parents should try to keep the children away from the drugs, he added.
Addressing the parents and the teachers, Principal IRE Rajiv Kumar clearly stated that prevention of drug abuse should start from own mind. The decision should come from within and not to be enforced from outside.
As a part of the occasion, various cultural programmes like recitation, song and dance were also performed by the students of the school.
