Ccpur: The 27 Sahnit Ni /Kuki Black Day was observed at Kuki Inpi Churachandpur Complex, Tuibong on Sunday which was attended by KIM President Khaimang Chongloi, KIC President Letpu Haokip, KNO President PS Haokip and leaders from different tribes of Churachandpur and other Kuki  leaders.

The occasion was marked with the theme ‘unto every person killed there is a name’ and ‘Lest we forgot-seeking for justice and the way forward’  and the programme  was divided into two session starting from 11:00 am at the site of the monument where 1158 names were epitaphs in three huge monoliths.

A gun salute was held by Kuki Chief Association, Ccpur followed by condolence message and dedication of offering by Pastor Ginkhanmung Zou and a floral tribute led by Kuki senior citizens in the first session.

In the second session the President of KIC delivered the welcome speech followed by Sahnit Ni Message by KIM President and speech from invitees that ended with vote of thanks by Lalvullien Hmar who is the Vice president of KIC (art and cultures).

In a press briefing the Vice President (external ) KIM  Robul Pudaite said that the Kuki are mercilessly slaughtered by the Tangkhul led by NSCN (IM) since 1992 for which  they want justice for the departed soul which fail to come after repeated appeal to the union government of India. He said that the Kuki had supported and fight the British along with INA but were not heard in the present time asking the government to see the real problem instead of talking to the NSCN (IM).

The Vice President of KIM also said that they are not observing the Sahnit Ni not against any community but to made known their wish for justice so as to make the Black Day a white day and said that until justice was not made they will continue the observation of Sahnit Ni.
