THOUBAL: The City Cow Association (CCA) Thoubal has provided hand sanitizer, mask, gloves, drinking water bottles, petrol and lengyan phi as mark of honor to a few media persons of different media firms working in Thoubal District  for their valuable service during COVID-19 pandemic on Saturday.

In a short, simple and solemn event held at the community hall of Thoubal Melaground, volunteers of CCA led by secretary B. Surchandra  Sharma and chief advisor W.Santa, handed over the the materials by maintaining proper social distancing guidelines.

Speaking at the site of the event, secretary B.Surchandra Sharma stated that CCA has been serving the people since 25 years back. The association deeply acknowledged the roles being performed by the media persons when covering news related with Covid-19 lockdown. As a mark of honour, the items were provided, he added.

He recollected that the CCA had earlier supplied drinking water and dry food to police personnel who as frontline warriors were on duty during lockdown. Surchandra made an assurance to continue helping professionals carrying out their normal duties even during the testing time of the pandemic.

Chief advisor W. Santa also thanked the media persons and compared the roles of media persons as being the eyes and ears of public.

Meanwhile, Library and Information Centre Kakching also extended financial help to a few media persons on Saturday. Secretary Ksh. Joykumar applauded the role being taken by the media persons during the Covid-19 crisis. The centre had earlier extended help to those frontline warriors including doctors, nurses, and other health workers of Kakching.

On the other hand, District Legal Services Authority, Thoubal under the sponsorship of Manipur State Legal Services Authority, Imphal distributed relief materials  at some  swadhar homes located at Thoubal and Kakching Districts  on Saturday. The homes where relief materials were distributed were Social Upliftment and Resource Development Agency, Khangabok Awang Leikai, Rural Voluntary Services, Wangbal Mayai Leikai,  Rural Development Society, Khebaching, Khongjom, All Backward Classes and Economic Development Organisation, Samaram Mamang Leikai, Public Yoga and Nature Cure Association, Kakching Chumnang Leikai, Old Aged Home, Wangbal,  Old Age Home, Heirok and Kha Manipur Parents Association for Disable  Waikhong, Kakching District.

The distributed relief items included sugar, atta, potato, onion, hand sanitiser, hand gloves, tea leaves, oil, pulses etc.
