IMPHAL: Investigating team of CBI, New Delhi along with Assistant Professors of MU on Friday carried out scrutiny of the answer scripts of Manipur Civil Services Combined Competitive Examination (MCSCCE), 2016 at Manipur Public Service Commission(MPSC) Office Complex on February 28.
According to the reliable sources, the scrutiny of the answer sheets has been carried out as a part of their investigation to probe alleged irregularities in the conduct of the civil services examination (mains) 2016 conducted by the MPSC.
The scrutiny of the answers scripts started from today morning at around 10 am morning by team of CBI accompanied by assistant professors of MU and continued till filling of this report.
The CBI had registered a FIR case on early part of February to probe the alleged irregularities in the conduct of civil service examination (mains) 2016 as per the direction from the High Court of Manipur to probe in the matter on October last after quashing the examination after several aspirants approached it alleging irregularities in the selection process.
On November last, the order was upheld by the Supreme Court, which told the agency to conduct a time-bound investigation..
In its order directing the CBI to take over the probe, the high court had noted that out of 8,163 answer sheets, the examiners did not put their signatures in respect of seven papers or subjects, while in 15 papers, the supervisors did not put their signatures.
Mention may be made that the High Court of Manipur Division Bench comprising of Justice Lunusungkum Jamir and Justice Kh. Nobin on October last quashed the Manipur civil service examination (mains) 2016 conducted by MPSC and also set aside the order issued by the department of personnel, deputy secretary on June 22, 2017 and June 26, 2017 as well as the order issued by the deputy secretary (revenue) on June 23, 2017 and also directed the CBI, New Delhi to investigate the conduct of the MCSCC (Mains) Examination, 2016 within a period of three months and take appropriate action thereafter in accordance to the law.
