Cancer no more a killer disease but should be fought with unified force: RK. Ranjan

IMPHAL: Honble MP of Lokshaba DR. RK. Ranjan who attended The 2nd Annual conference of Manipur Oncology Society, MOSCON 2020 held by the organizing committee at Imperial Hall, Classic Grande, Imphal expressed his concern over sharing in details regarding how to control cancer formation and prevent it during early stages.

On the event, eminent delegates and experts from outside the state attended with prior objectives in awareness of preventing all types of Cancer formation.

He said that cancer is not a killer disease but should be combated with a unified force.

People living in rural and hilly areas are not completely aware of tobacco consuming as the main reason of cancer formation, the MP said and requested all the people in the state to take extra precautions while producing fermented and preserved food items.

Since many records have been confirmed that cancer formation is also derived from consuming such kind of items available widely in local streets and major markets, one should be very careful, Ranjan said.

As a member of the central council for Health and Family welfare, he also sought attentions of all the experts and specialist doctors to utilize the latest technologies for early detection of cancer. He also expressed concern over food habits, especially in urban areas of the state.

Professor Dr. Y. Indibor Singh of Radiation Oncology Department, RIMS said that Manipur Oncology society is a forum with an objective to prevent and promote health with an aim to reduce the high rating cancer formation and help prevent at the early stages. He assured that the society has been focusing their services with specialists and experts on mass awareness and treatment.

The society has been conducting free awareness programs and free early detection camps throughout the state regularly, which recently conducted screening camp of more than 200 at Jiribam, he said.

In a collaborative mission, the Society linked up with other various governmental and private hospitals including the health scheme of CMHT as a join forces to fight against cancer, Dr. Singh said.

Expressing the privilege of attending on MOSCON annual conference event, he also gave an awareness through the platform of press and media to all the adolescent and Middle aged men and women in the state to reduce and stop consuming tobacco based products which is one of the root causes of mouth and throat cancer.

He also stated that the main focus imposed to take up measurement of preventing cancer in the state is by regulating and restricting the high rates of consuming tobacco based product.

The event held on Saturday was graced by Lok sabha MP D.R. RK. Ranjan as the Chief Guest, Founder of Manipur Oncology Society Prof. Th. Tomcha singh as Guest of Honour and

Professor Y. Indibor as the president of the organizing committee of the Manipur Oncology Society, respectively.
