IMPHAL: As part of the continuous drive carried out by Coalition Against Drug and Alcoholism (CADA) to uproots drugs and alcohol from the state, a combined team of CADA and Excise Department raided illegal liquors vendors opposite to Polo Ground, Paona Bazar under City Police Station in Imphal West onSaturday.
The combined team also destroyed the seized locals and foreign made liquors in front of the public.
Speaking to media persons on the sideline of the drive, General Secretary CADA Geetchandra Mangang question the state government that while the Liquor Prohibition Act is being imposed in the state and being dry state, what is the actual meaning of stating Manipur as dry state as local and foreign made liquors arte being sold openly in the heart of Imphal City?
He said, CADA has taken up the responsibility to wipe out drugs and alcohol from the state as the concern excise department including police and other authorities of the state fails to take up their responsibility for the state and also said that CADA will continue to carry out drive against drugs and alcohol until its fully wipe out from the state.
Geetchandra urged the state government to stand Manipur, the actual meaning of dry state and appeals to prevent the crimes arises due to the consumption of alcohol in the state.
The local and foreign made liquors were seized from around 8 shops/vendors from opposite to Polo Ground in Paona Bazar, Imphal West District.
