IMPHAL: Coalition Against Drugs & Alcohol (CADA) conducted an awareness programme on COVID-19 at Takyel Kolom Leikai Ima Sindam Shanglen Cum Community Hall in Imphal West district in collaboration with Takyel Zilla Parishad.

Hijam Priyokumar, President, CADA, Ngasepam Bimola, UP-Adhyaksha and Samurailatpam Landhoni Devi, President, Kangla Self Help Group attended the programme as presidium member, informed Khundongbam Anand Secretary Information & Publicity CADA in a release.

CADA has been conducting such awareness programmes at various parts of the state in view of the alarming community transmission of the COVID-19 as well as the surging trend of social stigma among the health care workers and COVID warriors, the release said.

CADA Secretary General, Geetchandra Mangang, while delivering his speech as a resource person said that COVID-19 which is spreading across the globe has become a pandemic that transmits fast from human to human. Despite this fact, it cannot be said that a person contracted with the virus will succumb to the virus.  We will land in jeopardy when the transmissions of the virus once spiral out of control when we do not follow the SOP prescribed by the Government from time to time. As such, taking up proper precautionary measures is the need of the hour, Geetchandra said.

Staying at home most of the time, use of proper face masks while going out of home, staying away of mass gathering, maintaining one meter gap of physical distance, regular washing of hands with soaps and use of alcohol based hand sanitisers are highly recommended for precautions from COVID-19, he added.

Face masks were distributed to the participants.
