Six guns seized during search operation in Lilong, SP warns of action against nuisance creator during election

Imphal: At-least 6 (six) guns were seized during a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) conducted by a team of Thoubal District Police in connection with the upcoming By-election at 30-Lilong A/C and 34-Wangjing Tentha A/C of Thoubal District which will he held on November 7, 2020.

The team led by SP/Thoubal Dr. S. Ibomcha Singh, ASP(L&O)/Thoubal Lakshya Sharma and ASP (Ops)/Thoubal Sachidananda Soibam conducted house to house search operation at Lilong Turel Ahanbi, Darul Uloom Maning and Awang area on Thursday from 4:45 AM to 7:30 AM.

Speaking on the sideline of the search operation, SP/Thoubal Dr. S. Ibomcha Singh said that Thoubal District Police has been conducting CASO and taking up various precautionary measures since the mid-term election notification of 30-Lilong A/C and 34-Wangjing Tentha A/C of Thoubal District was issued to avoid any form of unwanted incident during the election.

The SP appealed to those people who are having license gun that haven’t been deposited to deposit at the earliest as DC and DM of Thoubal District have issued an order to deposit their license guns. However some license guns are found to be not yet deposited and if Thoubal District Police happens to come across such guns, the owners are punishable as par law, the SP said.

The SP further said that stringent actions, as per law, will also be taken against those who try or plan to create nuisances during the election.

In the said search operation, about 60 houses were searched properly and about 350 residents including females were verified.

The six guns seized included 3 (Three) Double Barrel, 2 (Two) Single Barrel along with live cartridges and 1 (One) Non Prohibited Bore (NPB) ’20 pistol.
