TMB Report

IMPHAL: A Chinese made hand grenade was found planted at the gate of the residence of ousted Manipur People’s Party president Oinam Yugindro Saturday morning at around 8:30. The MPP leader’s residence is at Top Siphai Thongkhong Luxmi Bazar Cosmo Lampak Maning under Wangoi Police Station in Imphal West.

The question as to who planted the bomb is yet to be known with no claims from any insurgent groups either. Jugindro has been in the news recently after he was ousted from the post of president of Manipur People’s Party after a inside rebellion but he had denied being removed from the post.

Family members found the grenade lying in open grass near their residential gate and immediately informed the concern Police Station.

Manipur Police Bomb Disposal Squad rushed at the spot and safely collected the grenade and destroyed it at a paddy field at around 11:10 am.

Wangoi Police has taken up a case and investigation has begun.

It may be recalled that few days back Central Committee of MPP had announced that Oinam Jugindro has been removed from the Party President post.

However, Jugindro denied that there is no case of him being from the post.

Meanwhile, the Kanglei Lamjing Development Club, Thongkhong Laxmi Bazar has strongly condemned the act by the unknown miscreants.

In a statement, the organization said that local meira paibi organization, Social Welfare Club Top Siphai and Kanglei Lamjing Development Club jointly staged a protest demonstration at Thongkhong Laxmi Bazar denouncing the bomb threat.

It said that placing of bomb in crowded area has triggered panic among the people. The place where the grenade was placed is a key village road and a local school is also situated nearby. It questioned who would take responsibility if any unwanted incident takes place.

It appealed to the concerned party not to repeat such incident in future.

We have learnt that the MPP workers and office bearers have been sharply divided into two groups. If there is any political conflict, we appeal to resolve the issue through peaceful political dialogue, it added.
