IMPHAL: BJP Yaiskul Mandal and BJP Imphal Central District on Friday jointly organised and observed International Cleanliness Day at Shree Shree Govindaji temple.

Inunganbi Devi, Corporator, Imphal Municipal Corporation Ward No 18, L. Tombi Devi, Corporator, IMC, Ward No 20, S. Rita Devi, Corporator, IMC, Ward no 14, L. Lokeswor Singh, Mayor, IMC, A. Punyabanta Sharma, President, BJP Imphal Central District, Kh. Biswamittra Singh, President, BJP Yaiskul Mandal and various morchas and cells leaders participated the cleanliness programme.
During the programme, Satyabrata recalled the contribution of Mahatma Gandhi in freedom struggle of India’s Independence. Gandhi Jayanti is celebrated annually on 2nd October to commemorate the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi. His peaceful and non- violent means to unite India into fighting for freedom, gave him a reverential status in his lifetime which continues even today, the Minister said.
Hailed as the “Father of Nation”, Gandhi’ birth anniversary is one of the three main national holidays in the country.
Satyabrata further said that Gandhi was a devotee of truth and non-violence. In his honor UN General Assembly has announced this day as the International day of non-violence on 15 June, 2007. Gandhiji has gone through a long struggle so that the people of India can breathe in an independent nation, the Minister added.
Earlier a social service was inaugurated by prof. S. Tikendra Singh, President, BJP Manipur Pradesh inside the Govindaji temple.
