BJP party a ‘Chartered Flight Horse-Trading Company’: MPCC President M. Okendro

TMB Report

IMPHAL: Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) has dubbed the present BJP-led government in the state as ‘Chartered flight horse trading company’.

During a press conference held at Congress Bhavan on Thursday, MPCC President Moirangthem Okendro reacted bluntly to Ram Madhav’s speech during the welcome ceremony of five former Congress party legislators who had resigned and joined the BJP party which was held at the national capital. He lambasted the ruling BJP party for disrespectfully toying with the public mandates, that too at a time while the people of the state are facing the harsh impact of Covid-19, using every trick available to strengthen their insecure political position undermining the woes of the masses.

The charges made by BJP National General Secretary Ram Madhav accusing Congress legislators for destabilizing the government are totally baseless, fabricated and unjustified, Okendro said. The people of Manipur still remembers and were witnesses to how the present BJP led government was formed with the help of power plotting for dominance in the Assembly by the Centre and central leaders, even though it was the Congress party who scored a clear majority and was the rightful heir to claim the formation for the next government, he stated.

Among the six Ex- MLAs who have disregarded the people of their respective constituencies and Congress supporters, only five of them joined the BJP. Why did not the Lilong kendra representative not follow them and join the saffron party? Is it a clear indication of the possibility that Lilong Assembly constituency will not accept the saffron party and its ideology, asked M. Okendro.

Stating that the party has numbers of capable leaders who are intending to run for elections in every constituency as well as countless numbers of supporters, he appealed to workers, leaders of MPCC district wise committees to stay firm on their roots of belief and have unwavering faith in Congress party and teach lessons to the persons who are betraying their own people at the coming   by-elections.

At the same time, he called for a collective effort to fight against Covid-19. These six Ex- MLAs had been also nominated as the chairman of Covid-19 task force, for their respective constituencies in the battle against Covid-19, but they made the irresponsible decision at the moment to leave the party for their own political benefits ignoring the hardships of pandemic situation, M. Okendro asserted.
