Bharat Bandh observed in Manipur too

IMPHAL: The nationwide Bharat Bandh called by the peasant was organised in the state too on Tuesday with solidarity and support rallies for the ongoing massive agitation by farmers’ organisations all over the country against the new Agri laws – Farmer’s Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill 2020 , The Farmers ( Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill 2020 , The Essential Commodities Bill (Amendment) 2020.

According to a press release issued by Manipur Loumi Lup secretary Haobijam Ibobi it was said that the peasants’ organisations viz. Manipur Loumee Marup, Manipur Loumi Lup, Bharatiya Khet Mazdur Union, All India Agricultural Workers’ Union with the support of CPI, CPI(M), RSP All India Forward Bloc and other organisations jointly organised small rallies in many far flung and remote villages and towns in rural Manipur too.

The main rally of the Bharat Bandh in the state was held at the adjoining lane of B T Road. The rally was participated by L. Sotinkumar, Secretary CPI; Kshetrimayum Santa, Secretary CPI (M); Sarat Salam, Manipur Loumee Marup ; N. Singhajit, President Manipur Loumi Lup; H. Ibobi, Secretary Manipur Loumi Lup; and S. Nilkamal, President BKMU.

The rally at BT Road condemned the RSS/BJP’s malicious campaign and preposterous charges against the struggle of the unions to safeguard Indian agriculture and the country’s food security, the release stated.

Moreover, the leadership of the Bharat Bandh organisers expressed thankfulness to the Sit in Demonstrators on December 7 in support of the bandh in many places in Manipur

Further, the organizers appealed to all political parties and forces who stand with the farmers’ cause to extend their support and cooperation till the Farm Bills are withdrawn.
