Bail plea of murder suspect Sahid Khan rejected

IMPHAL: Judicial Magistrate First Class, Imphal West II rejected the bail application filed by the boyfriend Md. Sahid Khan in connection with the alleged brutal murder case of 19 year old girl at Irong Chesaba Salam Achouba Thumukom on January 28, 2020 and remanded the alleged accused boyfriend into judicial custody remand till February 25, 2020.

The alleged accused Md. Sahid Khan, 24, son of Ithem of Yairipok Changamdabi boyfriend of the victim girl was produced before the court of JMFC, Imphal West II after the completion of seven more days police custody remand in connection with the case along with the prayer for judicial custody remand for further investigation of the case.

On the other defense counsel of the alleged filed remand objection along with the prayer for releasing the alleged accused on bail in connection with the case.

It is said that the IO of the case through APP submitted that the alleged accused was arrested on the January 28 afternoon soon after the dead body of the victim was found at Irong Chesaba Salam Achouba Thumukom and is the prime facie suspect whom the victim girl allegedly went to meet in the midnight of January 27 as the alleged accused had long time relationship, according to the statement of victim cousin.

The IO of the case submitted that during the police interrogation, the alleged accused had initially admitted to have committed the crime and then later blatantly denied the commission of the crime nevertheless fully admitted that he was in relationship with the victim for the last two years and had physical relationship with the victim several times.

It was further revealed by the alleged accused that few months ago the victim got pregnant however the alleged accused wanted abortion of the child by giving some medical pills and that caused mental trauma and stress and hence their relationship had become strained for a while a few months ago.

The IO further submitted that the investigation is in the crucial stage with more evidences and circumstances yet to e collected and substantiated to tie up the loose ends and to established the correlation of the two alleged accused Md. Sahid Khan and another accused Sheikh Warish, 24, son of Late Md. Hessamuddin ofLilong Dam Makha in commission of the crime who was remanded by the same court in judicial custody remand in connection with the case yesterday. 

The initial admission and subsequent denial of the alleged accused about the crime is uncanny and require careful and through examination and also more forensic examinations are required to corroborate the commission of the crime. So, in order to collect more evidence against the alleged accused Md Sahid Khan and Sheikh Warish is required to be kept in judicial custody. If the alleged accused Md. Sahid Khan is let scot free at this crucial stage of investigation, the investigation of the case will be hampered and there is highest possibility of evidence being tampered and it prayed to remand the accused Md. Sahid Khan into judicial custody remand in the interest of smooth and speedy investigation of the case

Court after hearing the APP of the state and defense counsel of alleged accused on perusal of the case record found it satisfied with the police prayer and thus rejected the field bail application of the alleged accused and remanded into judicial custody remand till February 25, 2020

Mention may be made that Sheikh Warish, 24 son of Late Md. Hesamuddin of Lilong Dam Makha and another accused of the case have been remanded into judicial custody remand yesterday till February after having allegedly confessed/admitted that he had killed the victim by strangulation in course of various heated arguments on the issue of eloping on the night of January 27, 2020.
