Awareness programme on vector borne disease cum distribution of mosquito nets held

Imphal: An awareness programme on vector borne diseases cum distribution of mosquito nets to the students was jointly organized by the Gem Public School, Pourabi and District Malaria Officer of Imphal East District at the campus of Gem Public School on Thursday.

In relation with the programme, DMO Imphal east Dr. Priyokumar said that the distributed mosquito nets are a little bit small in size and said that the chemical which was included in the mosquito net lasted for five years.

Many populations do not use the mosquito net as the size of the mosquito net was small in size. So the Manipur government has complained about the size of the net, the team ministry has visited Manipur and inquired about the size of the mosquito net. The team made an assurance to provide the exact size needed by the people. The main objective of the distribution of mosquitoes is to protect from Malaria disease. The programme was held under the initiative of the Ministry to safeguard people from Malaria and contribute to every citizen to stay safe and healthy.

On the day, SDO Sawombung T. Milakhan expressed that due to Malaria infection, numbers of people have died and numbers of people have been presently sick with Malaria. So under the flagship programme of the Ministry was held to protect and prevent from infection of the disease, for which we should be thankful to the Ministry, he reminded.

DPO of Imphal East District Sh. Premjit, AACDEO of Imphal East District T. Budhachandra, vice-president of Pourabi Lainingthou Puthiba Development Committee Konsam Achou Singh attended the day.
