Thoubal: A public awareness programme on Covid-19 was organised at Wangjing Wangkhei, Thoubal district on Sunday, said a press release from NSS Cell, Waikhom Mani Girls’ College, Thoubal.
The release stated that the event was a part of the road map prepared by the Manipur University Covid-19 task force committee towards containing Covid-19 in collaboration with the NSS Cell Manipur University and NSS Cell Waikhom Mani Girls’ College, Thoubal.
The motive of the programme was to spread awareness about the deadly Coronavirus, its national and global spread and infection trends, preventive measures and dos and don’ts to be followed at home and places of work, the release added.
It is said that in compliance with the social distancing and face mask wearing norms as directed, the awareness programme was witnessed by more than a hundred localites of Wangjing Wangkhei Leikai comprised mostly of elderly and middle aged persons, the release said.
The release also stated that Dr. Gokulchandra, a doctor working at Manipur University, talked on various aspects about the dynamics of the virus, preventive and containing measures.
Professor G. P. Prasain, Chairman, Manipur University covid-19 monitoring task force committee and Professor W. Chandababu, Register, Manipur University also spoke on the topic, the release added.
The release further stated that Manipur University NSS Programme Co-ordinator K. Shitaljit, Programme officers, S. Opendro, L. Santosh and programme officers of Waikhom Mani Girls’ College, P. Robinson also distributed face masks, soaps and hand sanitizers and also demonstrated hand washing and face mask wearing techniques to the people.
