IMPHAL: The People’s Task Force For Covid-19 Volunteer has organized an awareness campaign at Paona Bazar and Thangal Bazaar. Many shopkeepers and customers were found not following the SOP, and they were taught the special instructions contained in the guidelines of Covid-19 by the volunteers of the task force.
In a press release of the task force it was stated that a significant number of people at the crowded markets were found to be completely overlooking the guidelines and SOP of Covid-19 while coming out to the markets to purchase their needs. In such a crowded place, there is no way to be sure how many of them are Coronavirus positive and how many of them have came from the containment zones, making the environment very risky to a community transmission.
It continued to stress on the importance of wearing face masks and maintaining physical distancing in such location with heavy movement of people as well as to stand 4 feet apart from each other while striking a conversation. It advised the shopkeepers to install hand sanitizer compulsorily at the entrances of the shops and also to limit the number of customers entering the shops at one time.
However, it also added that the campaign had been organized to avoid unnecessary rush movements inside the shops, whereas advised the customers and shopkeepers to implement SOP properly which also warned for the strict action of those SOP violators, it added.
Further, in collaboration with the Peoples’ Task Force For Covid-19, Indian Red Cross Society, Manipur State Branch, Indian Medical Association and Association for Health Care Providers of India organized awareness programme along with Moral Information Club, Lamboikhul at Ima Ireima Sanglen Lamboikhul. A similar programme has also been organized at Irom Meijrao Makha Leikai Community Hall under the initiative of Social Development Club.
