Imphal: The members of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Campaign (NMBC) organised an Awareness and Group Discussion on “Prevention of Alcohol and Substance Abuse” for the inmates and Staffs of the Health Care Centre, Thoubal Pakhangkhong and Rural Development Society, Khongjom in Thoubal District on Saturday.
The event was observed by maintaining strict Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) of Covid-19, said DLC on NMBC, Thoubal in a press release.
15 inmates attended the programme in which DSWO Thoubal A. Kameshwar Singh and Yumnam Laksman Singh attended as the Resource Persons, the DLC said adding that it was followed by serious discussion on “Prevention of Alcohol and Substance Abuse” participated by the entire inmate.
A. Kameshwar Singh highlighted the prevailing situation of Drug and Substance Abuse among the youths in the state and also emphasizes to develop a firm and strong will to abstain from drug usage and be a role model to others for not falling into the clutches of drugs, the release states.
Yumnam Laksman Singh also expressed that the campaign was an eight step for eradicating the menace of drug abuse from the society and motivated the inmates of the Centre by giving idea about the award which is given to the client who freed themselves from the drug and had done good work towards eradicating drug from Society.
All the participants also raise the slogan of “Nisha Pumnamak Thadoklasi”, collectively, the release states.
The release also stated that the programme concluded with the words of appreciation for organizing the Awareness from the Project Directors of the IRCAs.
