‘Avoid use of drugs, other intoxicants during events’

Imphal: The Manipuri Students’ Federation (MSF) in collaboration with the The United People’s Welfare Association (TUPWA) organized an orientation programme as a part of the agitation against the drug abuse at Langthabal Kunja Awang Leikai Community Hall on Friday. President of UPWA Laishram Joy, Finance Secretary of UPWA Koijam Naba, and general secretary of MSF Hijam Roshan attended as the dignitaries on the day.   MSF Drug Affairs secretary Oinam Premdas Khuman stressed on the mushrooming of young abusers of drugs/intoxicant items in the state. He stated that people also used drug/intoxicants items widely as a customary practice during occasion/event, and because of such habits there have been an increase in the consumption of drugs/intoxicants things among the younger generation. He appealed to every stakeholders or youths not to use drugs/intoxicants during celebrations or other similar events. Consultant of MSF Drug Affairs RK. Gunikanta gave a technical speech on addiction and drug prevention and the prevailing situation of the state. Mentioning on different issues, he further gave an enthusiastic speech on how to stay far away from such drugs/intoxicants item and consolidates their intelligence and knowledge. The president and finance secretary of the welfare association assured that this association will support every issue taken up in connection with drug abuse by the MSF. On the day, general secretary of MSF Hijam Roshan gave assurance that such programme will be taken up in relation with the drug abuse and attempt to widely carry it across the state. He appealed to every stakeholder to extend their support to every step taken up by the federation.He informed that the students’ federation has opened a free counseling cell especially for drug de-addiction. He added that MSF is always standing in order to save the youths from drugs/intoxicants.
