IMPHAL: Tengnoupal Battalion of 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) conducted a meeting with chiefs of all villages under the area of responsibility of battalion to obtain holistic review of various schemes implemented by Assam Rifles on Wednesday.
The battalion initiated projects covered under various Government Schemes at different villages under the area of responsibility, like water supply system, community halls, afforestation drive, medical campaigns and infrastructure development, IGAR (S) stated in a press statement. A requirement was felt to obtain feedback on the efficacy of implemented projects from villagers, hence a meeting of all Chiefs of respective villages was organised, it explained.
Tengnoupal village authorities conveyed that Skill Development Centre being constructed will provide job opportunities to the women of Tengnoupal. Likewise,chiefs of Laipham, Kwatha, Khudengthabi, Kampang and Shaibol villages apprised the Commandant that afforestation drive conducted by Tengnoupal battalion in the Year 2018 has proved to be successful and beneficial as it has generated monetary income to villagers apart from maintaining ecological balance of environment. The village authorities added that the medical camps conducted by Tengnoupal battalion has provided Primary Health facilities at remote locations and thus has negated the difficulties being faced by aged people to travel long distances in rugged terrain to receive medical aid. The villagers appreciated the infrastructure development projects completed at respective villages under ambitious Border Area Development Scheme of Government as it enhanced the standard of living of locals manifold. A positive feedback was received from the rural environment through village authorities regarding projects undertaken by the Assam Rifles in upliftmentof living condition of locals.
The village chiefs were asked about the problem being faced by them to meet routine requirements. The chiefs of villages conveyed various problems being faced by them like Water Supply Schemes and other infrastructure requirements, which were promptly acknowledged by the Commandant and affirmative assurance of projecting the requirement under various Government Schemes was communicated to villagers.
The chiefs of villages also expressed their heartfelt gratitude towards Assam Rifles. The battalion is committed to provide local populace with opportunities combined with infrastructural development to augment the standard of living coupled with income generation, the note said.
