Arrested KCP- PWG chairman, associate brought to Imphal from Delhi

IMPHAL: The Chairman of Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP)-People’s War Group (PWG), Laishram Mangoljao Singh and his active associate Hijbur Rahman have been brought to Imphal following their arrest in Burari, Delhi.

Addressing media persons at Imphal East Police Conference Hall on Wednesday, Superintendent of Police Imphal East H. Jogeshchandra said that the two terrorist were arrested by a team of Manipur Police led by Additional SP (Ops) of Imphal East along with a team of Southern-Western Range, Special Cell, Delhi police under the supervision of SP Imphal East district Haobijam Jogeshchandra and overall guidance of IGP Zone-I Manipur Clay Khongsai.

The two arrested have been identified as Laishram Mangoljao Singh (43), alias Lamyanba Khuman, Hirachandra, Pibarel etc. S/o Laishram Mano Singh of Awang Khunou Mayai Leikai and Hijbur Rahman (30), alias Ithemcha, Boby son of Md. Babu of Sora Maning Leikai located under Kakching district. It is said that the two accused persons remained involved in anti-national and terrorist activities since long including various unlawful activities and extortion cases in Manipur.

Earlier, SP of Imphal West district had declared a cash of reward of Rs. 1 lakh on the arrest of Laishram Mangoljao Singh in the past and also NBW against accused person (Lamyanba Khuman) has been issued by the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal East vide Cril Misc case no.37 of 2020 in c/w case FIR no. 47 (7)2019, IBG PS, U/s 17/20 UA (P) Act and 25(1-C) A Act.

SP Jogeshchandra  informed that they were negotiations for surrender but they were simultaneously carrying out different anti-national activities and involved in several terrors related activities like lobbying of grenades, shoot-outs, killing, planting of bombs, running extortion networks by intimidating businessman and politicians. They were even involved in banning Catholic schools, the SP said.

They even trying to set up a base in Delhi to carry out the anti-national activities, added the SP.

The SP said that a trap was laid near Niranka Satang ground at Burari, Delhi, where Laishram Mangoljao Singh and Hijbur Rahman were spotted. Later after a proper verification as well as establishment of their identity both were arrested. Thereafter, they were detained u/s 41.1 (b)(a) Cr. P. C vide DD no.9 dated March 01.03.2020 of Special Cell/SWR Janak Puri Police Station. Then on March 2, 2020, they were arrested from Janak Puri police station itself in connection with the cases as FIR no. 47(7) 2019, IBG PS, U/s 17/20 UA (P) Act and 25 (1-C) A Act and FIR 47(7) 2019, IBG U/s 17/20 UA (P) Act and 25 (1-C) A Act, the SP narrated of the arrest incident.

Accordingly, a prayer was submitted before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate by the SDPO-PRT N. Suraj Singh KPS stating that both the accused are wanted in the above cases and also seeking transit remand transit remand for five days to both the accused. Thereafter, the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate granted a transit remand of five days i.e till March 7, 2020. During the arrest, two mobile phones having SIM card of Nepal, mobile phone containing letterheads of KCP and incriminating audios/videos/chats etc along with one railway ticket, said the SP Imphal East.
