IMPHAL: Troops of Indian Army under the aegis of Assam Rifles along with Bishnupur Commandos recovered arms and ammunition near Naurom, Nambol in Bishnupur District of Manipur on Sunday.
Based on specific input regarding presence of two armed cadres of a banned outfit involved in extortion activities, the joint team launched a search operation in the area, IGAR(S) said in a press release. During the detailed search the team recovered three well concealed packages containing the arms, ammunition and other war like stores.
The recovered stores included one carbine, one country made AK Rifle, one Point 32mm US made Pistol, one country made single barrel gun, two hand grenades, one Improvised Explosive Device, two hand held radio sets and assorted live ammunition, the IGAR(S) said.
The recovered arms, ammunition and war like stores have been handed over to Nambol Police Station for further investigations.
