IMPHAL: Chandel Battalion of 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) provided necessary assistance to the civil administration and local populace of Chandel during the period of lockdown to control COVID -19 pandemic on 24th April 2020.
Safety kits and items like Sanitizers, Masks and Gloves were provided to Pallel Police Station, All Tribe Women Organization, Pallel (ATWO) and Mankang villagers, IGAR(S) stated in a press release. Also, essential supplies were also provisioned to the women of ATWO who were in the dire need due to lockdown. The team of Assam Rifles also sensitized the villagers and members of ATWO about various precautionary measures like maintaining basic hygiene, sanitation, social distancing and other precautions to be taken to avoid spread of disease. They were made aware about the responsibility of community to control the spread pandemic.
The villagers appreciated the humanitarian gesture of the Assam Rifles and assured full support for curbing spread of disease. Also, Assam Rifles and Civil Administration continue to work together to support the people while complementing each other to curb the pandemic.
