IMPHAL: Thoubal Battalion of 9 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) distributed rations and other utility items to Breakthrough Mission India Drug Rehabilitation Center, Khongjom Sangaikhong, Thoubal district on Tuesday.
In a wake of lockdown due to novel coronavirus, with an aim to provide assistance to the needy, the battalion distributed essential rations and other utility items to the NGO, IGAR(S) said in a press release. As part of the assistance the NGO was given 50 Kgs Rice, 25 Kgs Dal, 25 Kgs Sugar, 20 liters Milk, 15 liters Edible oil and other food items. In addition, a Medical team of the battalion interacted with the locals and educated them regarding various precautionary measures like regular hand washing maintaining basic hygiene, sanitation, maintaining social distance and other precautions to be taken to prevent spread of COVID-19.
Troops of Assam Rifles are continuously contributing in the fight against the pandemic COVID-19 by conduct of such activities and spreading awareness amongst the local population.
