AR observed World Earth Day, 1000 saplings planted

IMPHAL: Chandel Moreh and 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) observed World Earth Day from 22nd to 23rd Apr 2020 at Pallel, Chandel and Moreh in Manipur.

A total of 1000 saplings were planted by the Assam Rifles such as Ashoka tree, Jackfruit, Guava, Amla, Mango and Neem, as a part of the observation, IGAR(S) informed in a press release. Tree saplings taken from Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Office, Imphal Nursery and Kakching nursery were planted by the troops of Assam Rifles to acknowledge the role of Mother Nature which nurtures all living beings. The theme of this year World Earth Day was ‘Protect Our Species’, IGAR(S) stated.

Regular efforts are being made by Assam Rifles to plant more number of trees to protect and maintain healthy green environment. Awareness among the locals as well as Armed Forces regarding significance and importance of environmental friendly measure was made. 

Assam Rifles is making continuous effort towards responsible behaviour and bring about change in the environment by planting trees.
