IMPHAL: Chandel Battalion of 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) is continuously contributing in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, Chandel Battalion provided Ration and Surgical Masks to the Children of Orphanage Home, Hnatham village, Chandel on Wednesday.
Simultaneously, 50 saplings of various types were also provided for plantation in and around area, IGAR(S) informed in a press release. In order to contain the spread of the disease masks were provided to the children as precautionary measures against COVID-19. In addition, Regimental Medical Officer (RMO) and medical team of the battalion interacted with the Children and educated them regarding various precautionary measures like regular hand washing, maintaining basic hygiene, sanitation, social distancing and other measures to be taken to prevent spread of COVID-19.
The IGAR(S) stated that medical staff of the battalion also measured the temperature of the Children of Orphanage Home and distributed various medicines to them. Children were also sensitized about the importance of tree plantation, increasing effect of global warming and suggested ways to protect the environment by means of tree plantation.
Troops of Assam Rifles are continuously contributing in the fight against the pandemic COVID-19 by conducting such activities and spreading awareness amongst the local population. The Orphanage Home Staffs and Children expressed their gratitude for such endeavour by Assam Rifles.
