IMPHAL: Church Hill Battalion of Churachandpur Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) joined hands with the Samaritan Group, Churachandpur and Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Imphal to extend assistance to over 800 families of Thinghat Sub Division on Monday.
In view of the extended COVID-19 lockdown, the under privileged families of the region were facing acute hardships due to non-availability of essential items including daily rations, IGAR(S) said in a press release. The initiative of the Assam Rifles involved provision of essential rations and vegetables at heavily discounted prices way below the current market rates for the civilians at these remote locations. Approximately 60 families living below the poverty line were provided the items free of cost to help them tide over these difficult times.
Troops of Assam Rifles have been at the forefront in alleviating the difficulties being faced by the residents of the remote areas during the ongoing crisis. The Assam Rifles have been proactively involved in helping out the locals and have ensured that all necessary assistance reaches each and every Indian citizen residing in the remotest of the areas. Over 800 families expressed their deep gratitude for the men in uniform for the timely and much needed humanitarian assistance extended during such trying times.
