Moreh Battalion Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South), developed a Multipurpose Sports Complex (Football Ground and two Volleyball Courts) which was handed over to the people of Tengnoupal in Moreh town in a small ceremony organised on Tuesday.
DIG, 26 Sector Assam Rifles inaugurated the Multipurpose Sports Complex and also gifted sports items to the Village Youth Club President on the occasion. A medical camp was also organised by Assam Rifles for the local populace as part of the program.
A cultural programme was organised by the Village Youth Club during the inaugration ceremony which was attended by the CSOs members and the members of the Village Committee and Village Youth Club. The Football ground and Volleyball courts were constructed by the Assam Rifles in C’Tegnopal village in over a month long effort in order to promote sports culture. Volleyball matches of village teams of boys and girls were also organised to mark the inauguration.
Free medicines and masks were distributed among the villagers as part of the Medical Camp. Over 500 villagers including children were benefited from the medical camp.
On the other hand, Chandel Battalion Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South) organised a weapon display and motivational lecture under the theme of ‘Know Your Armed Forces’ at Machi village in Chandel district on Tuesday.
The aim of the event was to motivate the youth to join the defence forces. The weapon display was organised to familiarise the young minds with the Army and Assam Rifles. Over 300 students and youth from nearby villages attended the event and enriched their knowledge about the Defence Forces. Various eligibility criteria, types of entry schemes, pay and emoluments, training and various careers opportunities available in the Indian Armed Forces were promulgated to the students, it added.
