IMPHAL: Tengnoupal Battalion of 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) conducted Medical Camps at villages under the area of responsibility on Friday.
The villages of Tengnoupal District are remotely located far away from NH-102 where provision of basic medical facility is a major challenge. In response to the challenge, Tengnoupal Battalion conducted medical camps at Sita, Kwatha and Khudengthabi villages of Tengnoupal district. The campaign was spear headed by Chief Medical Officer and Regimental Medical Officer of Tengnoupal Battalion.
Medical Camp at Sita village witnessed treatment of 160 villagers of Sita and nearby villages whereas 120 villagers received treatment at medical camp conducted at Kwatha and Khudengthabi villages, IGAR(S) said in a press release. The aim of conducting the medical camp was to provide primary health care to villagers and they were screened for Diabetes and Hypertension as well. To promote healthy lifestyle, awareness programme and a lecture was conducted for local residents to inculcate healthy habits in routine life.
The IGAR(S) stated that the opportunity was adequately exploited by Chief Medical Officer to spread awareness about recent outbreak of Corona Virus at Khudengthabi, Kwatha and Khudengthabi Check Post among locals to prevent outbreak of deadly virus as these areas being close to Myanmar are prone to the spread of Corona Virus. Method of spreading of disease along with precautionary measures to be adopted were explained to the local populace so as to prevent the outbreak of virus in Indian Territory.
The medical camp cum awareness programme received an overwhelming response from villagers who subsequently expressed their gratitude towards Assam Rifles’ initiative. The battalion is resolute to provide basic health care facilities at remote locations and also to prevent outbreak of Corona Virus in Indian Territory.
